South Florida Orthopedics And Sports Medicine

How Are Sports Injuries Diagnosed At Baptist Health Orthopedic Care

South Florida Orthopaedics Ortho Injury Walk-in Clinic

Our sports medicine experts first evaluate your injury through a physical exam. Next, they will likely use imaging tests, such as X-rays or ultrasound, performed in our office, to confirm the type of and location of your injury.

Sometimes a CT scan or MRI may be necessary to evaluate the injury and determine the best treatment option.

We offer high-resolution MRI that allows us to capture detailed images of your anatomy and plan surgery or treatment that is tailored to you.

How are sports injuries treated at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care?

We understand getting back into the game, race, match or activity you love is crucial to our patients. While our team boasts of some of the most experienced and innovative orthopedic surgeons who specialize in sports medicine, we first look at the non-surgical, conservative treatments that may be appropriate for your injury. These treatments include using immobilization devices such as braces or splints, physical therapy, or injections of medication, platelet-rich plasma or stem cells into the injured area.

If your injury requires surgery, though, our Board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons look for the most effective and least invasive approach to your surgery, so that you recover quickly. Furthermore, our physical therapists get you up and moving, often just hours after surgery, to help restore function and promote quick healing.

Sports Medicine And Team Physicians

Florida Orthopaedic Institutes team of highly skilled physicians serves hundreds of Tampa Bay residents every week. We have the largest and most advanced sports medicine program in the region. In addition, our surgeons are all fellowship-trained in advanced arthroscopic and reconstructive techniques, with many years of experience.

Our team of doctors have served as the team physicians for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Mutiny, Tampa Bay Rowdies, Tampa Bay Storm, University of South Florida, The University of Tampa, Saint Leo University and many high schools throughout Hillsborough County.

Our compassionate team of healthcare professionals uses a multi-disciplinary approach to ensure the most advanced treatment for all your sports-related injuries. Just as every athlete focuses on his or her particular sport, our team is dedicated only to sports medicine, and this ensures the best possible care and outcome.

We understand your desire to get back into the game and will do everything we can to make that happen safely. Because of their dynamic nature, sports injuries require specialized methods of treatment. So whether youre a weekend warrior or a high school, college, or professional athlete, if you suffer an injury, you need to see a physician with the highest level of experience. Regardless of the injury or level of competition, Florida Orthopaedic Institute teams training and experience is focused on a single goal: getting you back in the game.

What Is The Fragility Fracture Program

Baptist Health Orthopedic Care is the only institution in the region with a formal fragility fracture program. This program involves getting patients with fragility fractures seen, diagnosed and treated as quickly as possible, with most patients out of the operating room less than 24 hours after they first arrive in the Emergency Room. Additionally, the trauma surgeons help identify when a patients bone fracture likely resulted from an underlying condition, such as osteoporosis. These patients are then referred to a physician who helps them manage their recovery and their underlying condition to reduce the risk of future fractures or injuries.

Npi Validation Check Digit Calculation

The following table explains the step by step NPI number validation process using the ISO standard Luhn algorithm.

Start with the original NPI number, the last digit is the check digit and is not used in the calculation.
1
Step 1: Double the value of the alternate digits, beginning with the rightmost digit.
2 3 14
Step 2: Add all the doubled and unaffected individual digits from step 1 plus the constant number 24.
2 + 8 + 8 + 1 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 3 + 1 + 4 + 24 = 66
Step 3: Subtract the total obtained in step 2 from the next higher number ending in zero, the result is the check digit.
70 – 66 = 4 4

The NPI number 1841253374 is valid because the calculated check digit 4 using the Luhn validation algorithm matches the last digit of the original NPI number.
