Npi Validation Check Digit Calculation

The following table explains the step by step NPI number validation process using the ISO standard Luhn algorithm.

Start with the original NPI number, the last digit is the check digit and is not used in the calculation.
Step 1: Double the value of the alternate digits, beginning with the rightmost digit.
2 5 8
Step 2: Add all the doubled and unaffected individual digits from step 1 plus the constant number 24.
2 + 7 + 8 + 0 + 6 + 7 + 6 + 5 + 8 + 24 = 73
Step 3: Subtract the total obtained in step 2 from the next higher number ending in zero, the result is the check digit.
80 – 73 = 7 7

The NPI number 1740373547 is valid because the calculated check digit 7 using the Luhn validation algorithm matches the last digit of the original NPI number.

Our goal at Orthopaedic Surgery Center is to ensure your comfort and safety by providing a team of board-certified surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses whose focus is your comfort and care.

Why Ocp

OCP was formed in 2017 with our initial practice partner, The Orthopaedic Institute. Since Varsity Healthcare Partners initial investment, the OCP platform has grown to include 11 practices, 120 physicians, 27 locations, and 4 states.

OCP has successfully completed more orthopedic practice affiliations than any other private equity-backed platform. All OCP practices retain their own unique identities and brands and maintain clinical autonomy. While select systems and back-office functions are centralized for efficiency, OCPs focus is on providing additional resources to help support and grow its partner practices.

Having achieved meaningful scale through multiple paths: physician recruitment & practice affiliations, adding & expanding locations, renegotiating contracts, increasing ancillary services, and growing value-based care.

OCP seeks partners that share our values and goals, while others want to be big for the sake of being big.

Stronger together
