He later served as Chief of Orthopedic Services and Director of the Sports Injury Clinic at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany. Richard J. Mitchell, M.D., M.S. specializes in orthopedic surgery. He earned his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at George Washington University in Washington D.C. Dr. Mitchell also completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis.
