My husband and I have been to OAM multiple times over the last 5 years. Dr. Martin Pallante did a hip replacement on my husband, and one knee replacement on myself. I am getting my second knee replacement in August. Dr. Pallante is very thorough, kind, and genuinely cares about his patients. I would highly recommend Dr. Pallante for any orthopaedic problems to my friends and family.
Jodi Beckman
Used the Urgent Care walk in for an ankle injury. They were fast, well organized, and very friendly and professional.
Andy Casperson
My first visit to OAM was great! Not that I want to go back, but if I do I know I will get great care and medical advice to guide any decision I need to make. Dr. Voss was very thorough and gave me a better outlook than was I was told in a different office.
Joe Panici
My oldest child has been to Orthopaedic Associates many times. She received excellent care from Dr. Pallante for a broken elbow at 3 years old Dr. Anhalt for the other broken elbow, requiring surgery at 7 years old. She has seen Adam Geller PA, initially in the urgent care for the elbow fracture that required surgery and post surgical care for the elbow. All of the providers were excellent.

I received a back injection from OAM. From scheduling, the injection and getting my bill, everything was a smooth process!

Performing Total Joint Replacements Since 1971
Joint replacement surgery is becoming more common. In total joint replacement, the damaged joint is replaced with artificial implants. In partial joint replacement, only the diseased or damaged joint surfaces are removed and replaced with artificial parts. A joint is where two or more bones come together, like the knee, hip and shoulder.
Our board-certified surgeons have been performing total joint replacements since 1971. That experience means outstanding care for our patients every day.
Quality also is reflected in our low orthopaedic infection rate, our patients short length of stay in the hospital and very low rates of complications compared to national averages. These statistics are important to us for one reason: They stand for patients. And were determined to give our patients the very best chance for a recovery free from complications.
Surgery is performed in our surgery/ambulatory care facility For your convenience, all post-operative orthopaedic services are fully integrated on one patient-care floor. In addition, we know how important it is to keep lines of communication open, talking frequently to family and friends before and after surgery.
Hip Replacement: When Is It Time

A hip that hurts can seriously affect your life. If hip pain is your constant companion, you may want to consider replacing that worn-out joint.
Hip replacement surgery is a safe, highly successful solution for painful hips, whether the pain is caused by arthritis or other conditions. Still, its a big decision to have surgery, and you need to be sure it is the right decision for you. Here are four key reasons why doctors may recommend hip replacement surgery.
1. Your pain limits your activities.
The pain can make it hard for you to do many of the things you want and need to do. This can include everyday tasks and choressuch as working, getting out of a chair, cleaning your house or bathing. Hip pain can also keep you from enjoying fun activities, like walking, golfing, gardening, bowling or dancing.
2. Your hip hurts even when resting.
You may have pain even when youre trying to sleep. Because your pain doesnt take a night off, you may find it hard to get a good nights rest.
3. Your hip is stiff as well as painful.
Pain may not be your only hip problem. A stiff joint can make it hard to lift your leg for something as simple as putting on socks and shoes.
4. Other treatments havent helped.
Before recommending joint replacement, doctors usually suggest other forms of pain relief. Among them:
- Physical therapy exercises.
- Mobility aids, like canes or walkers.
If nonsurgical treatments no longer work for you, surgery might be a good choice.

Understanding The Musculoskeletal System
Whether youve had trouble bouncing back from a sports-related injury, or your age-related aches and pains have become intolerable, it may be time to talk to a Mercy orthopedic specialist. An orthopedic physician specializes in conditions affecting bones and muscles, also called the musculoskeletal system. Your musculoskeletal system is the network of bones, muscles and tissues that frame your body and allow it to move. It includes:
- Your skeleton, which supports your body weight and protects your organs
- Muscles that let you move almost every part of your body, from standing and walking to typing or throwing
- Joints, where two bones connect and allow specialized movement such as bending or turning. Major joints include your shoulders, hips and knees
- Tendons, tissue that attaches your muscles to your bones
- Ligaments, tissue that attaches bones to other bones
- Cartilage, a rubbery tissue that covers the ends of many bones, allowing them to glide against each other
