If you are an otherwise healthy individual who isnt dealing with diabetes or nerve damage in the feet then you may choose to tackle this problem from the comfort of your own home first. There are many over-the-counter fungal medications that you can use.
Of course, you will want to make sure that the medication you choose is specifically designed for treating fungal nail infections and not other fungal infections such as athletes foot. Most over-the-counter anti-fungal medications need to be applied daily for up to 12 weeks, but you typically wont see results until the nail grows out clear in a few months.

Professional Treatment For Fungal Infections
Since topical fungal treatments typically arent the most effective way to completely get rid of a fungal infection within the toenails, we have two options: an oral antifungal medication or laser treatment.
